HMRC was formed on the in April 2005, following the merger of Inland Revenue and Her Majesty's Customs and Excise Departments. HMRC is responsible for the administration and collection of taxes and duties including income tax, corporation tax, National Insurance and VAT. HMRC pays and administers Child Benefit, Child Trust Fund and Tax Credits. In addition, HMRC are responsible for National Minimum Wage enforcement and the recovery of student loans. HMRC also maintains the Business Link website the government's online resource for businesses.
