As of July 2016 department's responsibilities have been taken on by Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

The Department brings together much of the Climate Change Group, previously housed within the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), with the Energy Group from the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR). (Welsh: Yr Adran Ynni a Newid Hinsawdd[1])
