Local council for the area including the towns of Arbroath, Brechin, Carnoustie, Forfar, Kirriemuir, Monifieth and Montrose.

Angus Council is the Statutory Harbour Authority (SHA) for Arbroath Harbour through the provision of the ‘Arbroath Harbour Acts and Order 1839 to 1919’. Angus Council is also the Local Lighthouse Authority (LLA) with respect to aids to navigation by virtue of Section 193 of the Merchant Shipping Act 1995. ^*
