23 April 2008

Dear Sir or Madam,

Captain Ken Masters of the Special Investigations Branch of the Royal Military Police was found dead in his officer's quarters in Basra, Iraq, in mid-October 2005, having apparently committed suicide:

At the inquest, it was stated that he had been "unable to cope with pressure from above", and his wife Alison believes that something unexpected must have occurred which, five days before the end of his tour of duty, led him to take his life:

It also appears that Alison's requests for meetings with the Ministry of Defence to discuss her concerns have not met with much favour.

I would like to enquire which incident(s) Capt. Masters was investigating in the time leading up to his death. Some newspapers have suggested* that among them was an incident a month earlier, involving UK Special Forces - is this true?

Yours faithfully,

Tim Budd
