Dear Sir or Madam,
I am contacting you in relation to your interactive website called
'Taking Liberties' and its section on the Cornish home-rule
movement.
I wrote to you about this subject a few weeks ago but as yet I have
received no response.
First can I say that it was encouraging to see the subject of the
Cornish home-rule movement being treated by the British Museum.
Well done and many thanks.
I note that in the spoken presentation the Stannary Parliaments are
mentioned.
However I was surprised by the fact that the Duchy of Cornwall and
its historic and contemporary constitutional relationship to the
territory of Cornwall is not mentioned once.
This website www.duchyofcornwall.eu is a fully referenced
exploration of this subject. One would hope that an academic
institution such as the British Museum could treat this subject in
an open and accurate way.
This leads me to my questions. Why was the Duchy and its
relationship to Cornwall not mentioned? Who was consulted on the
creation of this 'Cornish Independence' section? What information
and guidance did they provide?
Yours faithfully,
Philip Hosking

In response to your request please be aware that your questions relate to
an interactive website of the British Library not the British Museum and
that the Museum is therefore unable to provide the information you
request.
The British Museum and British Library are no longer connected. The
British Museum does not contribute to content on the British Library
website. You therefore need to address this request to the British
Library. The British Library is listed as an authority on the

you can send your request directly to: [3][email address]
With regard to your statement concerning an earlier request, the Museum
did not, as far as I am aware, receive a request concerning this subject
'a few weeks ago'. If you could let me know the email address to which
this request was sent and the date of that request I will investigate why
you did not receive a reply. The request in any case should have been sent
to the British Library.
I hope this information is helpful. However, if you are dissatisfied with
the response you have received and wish to make a complaint about how your
request has been handled you should write to me in the first instance. I
will refer your complaint to the Director of Administration at the Museum
who will respond within 10 working days.

request has been dealt with correctly, you have a further right of appeal
to the Information Commissioner. To make such an application, please write

Dear Mr Hosking
Thank you for your enquiry and I apologise for the slight delay in
replying. The exhibition Taking Liberties forms part of the British
Library exhibition programme and I have provided the link to their web
page below. It is the British Library not the British Museum (we are now
two separate institutions) that you need to contact regarding the content
of the exhibition and the interactive web site.
