Dear Mr Smith

Thank you for your request for information made under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 on Saturday 20th December 2008. Please note that
the LGA are not covered by the provisions of the Act, but we always try
to deal with such requests in the spirit of the legislation.

We have considered your request for details of local authority
representatives in relation to a "mutually beneficial business
opportunity". The information in question is considered "personal data"
under the Data Protection Act 1998 and is not disclosable to you as we
do not have the individuals' consent to release their personal
information to third parties. We consider that it would not be fair or
lawful to disclose the personal contact details of individuals to a
third party in this way. The information you have requested is held by
us for our own advertising, marketing and public relations activities
and as a databank for our organisation's reference, with strict
restrictions about how widely this can be shared. Under the terms of
our data protection registration, we would not be able to share that
information with you without the data subject's consent. As we do not
have that consent, your request is refused under Section 40 of the
Freedom of Information Act 2000 ("personal information exemption").

However we would draw your attention to other sources where the
information you require may be found: by contacting each local authority
directly. We attach a weblink which lists the names of local
authorities in England and Wales as at January 2008 which may assist
you: http://www.lga.gov.uk/lga/core/page.do?p...

We are sorry that we cannot help you further with your request. Please
redact all personal data from this thread on the www.whatdotheyknow.com
website in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998
