Dear University of East Anglia,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

Dear Mr Palmer

Your ref: FOI_11-048; EIR_11-005

Thank you for your reply to my request. I would ask that you carefully review your refusals to disclose under regulations, 12(5)(a), 12(5)(f) and 12(3) & 13(1). While I am aware that you have deployed these exceptions before, I would urge again that you take into account the fundamental IPCC principle that its assessment process is required to be open and transparent by its member governments. This makes your position look extremely odd.

As for personal information, the names of senior professionals well know globally should not be withheld from documents of international importance, in which they are named in their professional capacity.

I would also draw to your attention the testimony given by Professor John Christy last week to the US House of Representatives Committee on Science, Space, and Technology and available at http://science.house.gov/sites/republica...

This testimony, which also includes some from Professor McKitrick, demonstrates clearly the importance of full and prompt disclosure on all matters relating to the assessment of climate change science.

It is increasing clear that investigations into the IPCC process and Climategate are going to be pursued in the US with vigour. I believe the refusal of UK institutions to be open, transparent and cooperate with these enquiries will not only be a waste of British taxpayer’s money and will extend the period of pain and embarrassment that you are suffering but will also damage the international relations that you are hoping to protect by concealing important evidence.

Yours sincerely
