Dear Sir or Madam,
I request under the Freedom of Information act that you provide me
with the monetary value of all weapons exports from the United
Kingdom to Saudi Arabia from September 2001 to the most recent time
at which figures are available.
If possible I request that the gross value be broken down to
indicate the type of good (e.g automatic rifles, landmines, surface
to air missiles) and that the dates of transactions are shown,
broken down in units of three months.
A suitable response may include a bar graph (or a table from which
one can be made) with time- broken down by quarter- on one axis,
and monetary value on another axis and each item displayed.
By weapons or weaponry I mean any good which is suitable for use by
the military including dual purpose items.
Examples include but are not limited to: Body Armour, land mines,
ammunition, fighter jets, tanks, air to ground explosives (all
explosives), chemical or biological agents which are known to be
adaptable for military use.
If the scale of such data is too large to warrant a suitable
response then I request that you focus specifically on explosives
(including land mines, surface to air missiles, air to ground
missiles), ammunition, jets and tanks, and then provide the gross
data without further breakdown of transactions.
To clarify/conclude: I wish to know the total value (In pound
sterling, disregarding inflation) of all items which are both
suitable for military use and have been sold to Saudi Arabia by the
United Kingdom sine September 2001.
I wish for data of these sales to be broken down based on the
individual good and the date of the transaction.
Yours faithfully,
Joshua Carroll
