Dear Sir or Madam,
Are there any plans to erect signs informing motorcyclists that
they are entering or leaving Westminster so that they are aware of
the different approach to motorcycle parking (i.e. charging to
park) compared to your neighbouring councils?
If so, when will these signs be erected?
If not, would the council consider such signs so as to avoid
motorcyclists parking without paying, due to not realising they are
in a council with this attitude to motorcycle parking?
Yours faithfully,
Graham

Dear Graham
Thank you for your request for information regarding signs for
motorcyclists wishing to park within the City Of Westminster.
The City Council will not be erecting signs informing motorcyclists when
they are entering or leaving Westminster that they need to pay to park.
Motorcyclists would be made aware of their requirement to pay by the signs
located next to all the motorcycle parking bays in Westminster providing
information on charges.
If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request please contact

Dear Underwood, Helen,
Thank you for your reply
You said "Motorcyclists would be made aware of their requirement to
pay by the signs located next to all the motorcycle parking bays in
Westminster providing information on charges"
The current signs do not mention the free parking available in WCC
run car parks.
Does your answer mean WCC will be changing the current signs to
list the council run car parks and the fact parking in WCC run car
parks is free for motorcycles?
Or are the council actively trying to dispose of these car parks
and thus remove the free parking spaces for motorcycles?
Yours sincerely,
Graham

Dear Graham
In your email of 28 September 2009 you asked me to clarify my response.
I confirm that by my reply of "Motorcyclists would be made aware of
their requirement to pay by the signs located next to all the motorcycle
parking bays in Westminster providing information on charges" what I
meant was - there will be signs next to bays which will inform the
motorcyclist of the charges that apply in respect of those bays.
This answers the questions you raised in your original request, our
reference FOI 4421. If you have an additional question to raise
regarding the signs in carparks and/or Westminster I advise that you
should submit this to the [email address] so that this can be
logged as a new request and allocated for response accordingly.
Kind regards,
Helen
