Dear Aberdeen City Council,
How much revenue was raised by recycling waste collected from
households in Aberdeen?
This includes textiles, glass, paper, bin collection etc.
Can you tell me if Aberdeen Council receives any recycling credit
for
every tonne they collect from anywhere else? eg, other councils
etc.
Can you give me the full figure's/total money collected from the
last 5 years please?
Yours faithfully,
B ovens

Dear Mr Ovens,
Please accept our sincerest apologies for the late response to your
information request.
Thank you for your information request of 10 August 2010, made under
the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA). Aberdeen City
Council (ACC) has completed the necessary search for the information
requested.
How much revenue was raised by recycling waste collected from
households in Aberdeen? This includes textiles, glass, paper, bin
collection etc.
Our records show that revenue from recyclate sales was £118,720 from
Sept 2007 to Dec 2009.
Can you tell me if Aberdeen Council receives any recycling credit for
every tonne they collect from anywhere else? eg, other councils etc.
Aberdeen City Council is a unitary authority as are all Scottish Local
Authorities. This is ot applicable to ACC.
Can you give me the full figure's/total money collected from the last 5
years please?
No accurate breakdown is readily available at this time, however it is
it is recognised that the rate of income is reasonably steady month by
month. Please see attached Information Not Held Notice.
It should be noted that not all materials attract an income and may
attract a cost, also the cost of collecting recyclate far out-ways the
cost benefit.
We are unable to provide you with information on full figure's/total
money collected from the last 5 years as it is not held by the Council.
In order to comply with its obligations under the terms of section 17 of
the FOISA, the Council must issue an official notice in relation to any
requests for information not held by it. I therefore attach an
Information Not Held notice.
We hope this helps with your request.
Yours sincerely,
Jean Reid
FOI Compliance Officer (Acting)
