War casualty statistics, 2001-present

Dear Ministry of Defence,

I require the following pieces of information:

- The number of armed insurgents killed by British and allied forces in Afghanistan since the start of the 2001 calendar year (or a reasonable estimate thereof if specific figures are unavailable)

- The number of armed insurgents killed by British and allied forces in Iraq since the start of the 2003 calendar year (or a reasonable estimate thereof if specific figures are unavailable)

- The number of British soldiers killed as a direct or indirect result of enemy actions in Afghanistan since the start of the 2001 calendar year (or a reasonable estimate thereof if specific figures are unavailable)

- The number of British soldiers killed as a direct or indirect result of enemy actions in Iraq since the start of the 2003 calendar year (or a reasonable estimate thereof if specific figures are unavailable)

- The number of British civilians killed as a direct or indirect result of the actions of organisations based in Afghanistan since the start of the 2001 calendar year (or a reasonable estimate thereof if specific figures are unavailable)

- The number of British civilians killed as a direct or indirect result of the actions of organisations based in Iraq since the start of the 2003 calendar year (or a reasonable estimate thereof if specific figures are unavailable)

- The number of civilians killed by British or allied forces in Afghanistan since the start of the 2001 calendar year (or a reasonable estimate thereof if specific figures are unavailable)

- The number of civilians killed by British or allied forces in Iraq since the start of the 2003 calendar year (or a reasonable estimate thereof if specific figures are unavailable)

Dear Ministry of Defence,

On 7 December 2012, I made a request with your organisation under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, titled "War casualty statistics, 2001-present".

A copy of the original message, and your response acknowledging receipt, can be found at <http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/wa...>.

Under the terms of the aforementioned Act, public authorities have 20 working days to respond to a freedom of information request. Even accounting for the Christmas period, this deadline passed on 10 January 2013.

Please respond to my original request as soon as possible. If no response is forthcoming, I will exercise my right to file a formal complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office.
