Dear UK Border Agency,
I am writing to request the following under the FOI act:
Over the past 6 months, what percentage of Long Residence (10 year)
applications were decided within 6 months (postal applications
ONLY)?
The reason behind this is that UKBA are seriously failing in
meeting their published standards of 95% of applications decided
within 6 months for ILR seekers in the case of Long Residence (10
year) cases. While I can understand some 14 year cases require more
time for investigation, it is rather unacceptable that UKBA charges
an £820 fee for a service it cannot provide within its own
prescribed service guidelines. Your published standards are lacking
and seriously failing when it comes to 10 year ILRs.
I look forward to your reply.
Yours faithfully,
James B.

Can it please be explained that why does it require 6 months or more to process Long residence (10 year) applications? After all, before the ONE day service was closed the same application was being processed within 24 hours. From the applicant form it seems clear that the information required for the eligibility is pretty simple. It shouldnt take time for immigration people to know if the person has stayed there legally for 10 years with the passport provided to them with all exit and entry stamps. And the life in UK test results attached. They should be able to check police records instantly from the database. I mean what else do they take time in??
This unnessary delay just creates problems for people. They are stuck in once place with their jobs in jeopardy as nobody in UK wants to have a person with a hanging visa status.
It is requested humbly that instead of making things difficult please try to help the people who are eventually going to serve your country.
Regards
Maria Khan
