Dear Doreen,

I would like some further information about the library management
system.

Could you please send me copies of any instructions, manuals,
guidelines issued to staff, etc. related to the registration of
users with Vubris Smart and the process through which applications
for National Entitlement Cards are made?

Thanks,

Geraint

Dear Dr Bevan

I refer to your request for information under the Freedom of Information
(Scotland) Act 2002 relating to the above and am now able to respond.

I have pleasure in attaching a note of the instructions on how to join a
new borrower along with how we "currently" register a borrower with a
standard NEC card through the FreezeFrame software.

There are no instructions for the other cards as currently they are done
by the individual through registration forms or in the case of the Young
Scot, in bulk batches through the schools. These processes will be
superseded when the Council moves to the new Card Management System and
start rolling out to other libraries.

When a borrower receives their NEC Card the card is added to the
borrower's record (instructions attached).

Whilst writing I should emphasise that the borrower has the right to
refuse the NEC Card as the existing library card is still valid.

I hope you are happy with the information provided but have to advise that
you have a right to request a review of this response. You should either
e-mail [1][email address] or write to the Access to Information
Officer, Scottish Borders Council, Council HQ, Newtown St.Boswells TD6
0SA.

Yours sincerely

Doreen Broom
