David Rea made this Freedom of Information request to Newcastle upon Tyne City Council

Newcastle upon Tyne City Council did not have the information requested.

From: David Rea

23 March 2009

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am in my final year at the University of Northmbria and am
currently writing a dissertation to highlight the positive impact
CCTV cameras and other security measures have in reducing vehicle
crime in car parks.
Yourselves at the council, in conjunction with Northumbria police
and the safer parking scheme, have enabled 19 car parks in an
around the city centre to become safer places to park. I wish to
firstly record and analyse this change in crime and secondly
evaluate how more headway can be made to make car parks even safer.

In line with these goals I would like to make a request for certain
information:

1). Crime statistics relating to vehicle crime both before and
after the safer parking award was given to car parks Blanford
Square, Leazes Park Road, sandyford square park and Terrace Place
South.

I hope to hear from you soon regarding my request, please do not
hesitate to contact me if u have any problems or queries.

Yours faithfully,

David Rea

My car was broken into in a car park run by Newcastle City Council. I had no dealings with the council at all, as everything was dealt with by the police. I would guess they would hold the information.
