A Freedom of Information request to Local Government Ombudsmen by Stuart Hardwicke CARRUTHERS

The request was successful.

Stuart Hardwicke CARRUTHERS

18 October 2008

Dear Sir or Madam,

Please provide copies of any research undertaken by the LGO and the
CLAE that might explain why Council's identify that they have very
different finding's of maladministration against them by the LGO.
Further, they hold very different information on if they have met
an LGO's recommendations and remedy. The variance in the findings
of the LGO and the opinions of the Council's is massive.

Please provide details of all monitoring undertaken by the LGO's
explaining why this exists - and further identify if the failure of
Council's to take account of the LGO's actual findings has been
considered in any of the reviews and surveys undertaken by the LGO.

It was highly apparent in 2006 - and should have been identified as
an issue in the triannual report of the LGO. Please identify the
Ombudsman's reasons for not identifying this issue to the Secretary
of State.

Yours faithfully,

Stuart Hardwicke CARRUTHERS
