Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to request further details of the forty five instances
in which , over the last twelve months [ March 2008 - March 2009
]the Council has used Ripa (Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act)
to investigate individuals.

Information requested to include dates of investigations , postcode
area details and reason for investigation.

Regarding your request below, could you just clarify for me that you do
mean March 2008 to March 2009; as it was the previous year that there
were 45 instances of Wirral Council using RIPA.
Wirral Council has used RIPA in the time frame mentioned in your request
but it was the previous year that we used it 45 times. Please let me
know and I will organise the information for you.

Thank you for your response.

Yes , there seems to have been some confusion in certain areas of
the press regarding the time frame and the number of incidents
involved.

I do indeed mean March 2008 to March 2009 , so the total number
will vary accordingly.
