Dear Sir or Madam,
I wish to know where I can read the ACPO policy on the use of blue
warning lights and sirens on Military Police vehicles. Also could
you provide information as to whether the RMP is a recognised
Police Force and if its not is it likely to become recognised?
Yours faithfully,
T Cowell

Subject: Fw: Freedom of Information request - Use of blue warning devices
by Royal Military Police
Hi Yvonne,
The Military Police are not members of ACPO and as such there is no ACPO
policy on the use of emergency warning equipment on their vehicles, it is
a matter of law. The Military Police are not a Home Office Police Force
and the decision on their status in the future is not a matter for ACPO.
Regards
Paul

If the RMP are not members of ACPO why are there represented on the ACPO homicide working Group?
In relation to Blue lights and sirens it appears to be allowed by local chief oficers as opposed to any official authority.
It is worthy of note that their vehicles are now fully livered as police cars and they purport to be constables! the reality is they are soldiers with absolutely no authority/jurisdiction in relation to civilians or military dependants in mainland UK
