Your request for information has been considered under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000. I can confirm that Hertfordshire County Council does
hold some of the information you have requested, and can respond as
follows:
'In our e-mail to you dated 25th March 2010, we stated 'With reference to
Questions 1-7, (Hertfordshire County Council) does not hold information
relating to Hampshire County Council'.
Hertfordshire County Council is able to answer questions 8 - 11, in part.
Social care at Hertfordshire County Council is divided between two
departments, Adult Care Services and Children Schools and Families. The
information that we are providing only relates to the Adult Care Services
part of the information. The information that we are able to provide is as
follows:
8. The fiscal budget for qualified social work professional recruitment
through agencies for 2009-2010.
Adult Care Services (ACS) hold a central budget for all recruitment costs.
In 2009/10 this was *512,012 and in 2010/11 this is *513,468. It is not
possible to break this budget down to give the budget for recruitment of
social workers only; however the actual costs of recruitment for ACS were
approximately *106,689 in 2009/10.
The figures for the Children, Schools and Families (CSF) budget are not
available, (at this time please see note about extended deadline *)
9. The fiscal budget for qualified social work professional recruitment
through agencies for 2010-2011.
Please see the answer to question 8 above.
10. The total fiscal spend on agency qualified social work professionals
by department for the last 12 months.
Please note that the following figures have been provided by Manpower.
The agency spend on Qualified Care staff for the last 12 months is as
follows:

Manpower is the sole provider of agency qualified social workers used by
Hertfordshire County Council. The expenditure with Manpower is shown in
the answer to question 10 above.
*However for some of Children Schools and Families part of the information
you require, we are currently processing the rest of your request under
the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
The 20 working day deadline, as outlined by the Act, is 22nd April 2010,
we will unfortunately be unable to meet this deadline. As a result we
would like to extend the deadline by 5 working days to Thursday 29th April
2010. We apologise for the delay in responding to your request and will
endeavour to provide a response before 29th April 2010 if at all
possible.'
