Dear Sir or Madam,
With the whole instability of the the current financial market i
would like to know two things.
1) is the coucil tax payers funds invested safe? and we would like
to see the end of quarter 3 financial statements.
2) you say that you provide grants and funds to local businesses,
can you give me throughout this year how many grants were approved
so far?
3) What are your overall obejectives this year to help develop the
local businesses and community.

Mr Fox -
I write with regard to your Request, which was logged as RFI/00974. My
apologies for the delay in responding. The response to your questions is
as follows:
1. The Council confirms that it has no investments in Icelandic Banks.
Local authorities are not required to produce quarterly accounts; annual
accounts are required to be produced by 30th June at the end of each

2. Although the Council has provided loans and grants to Businesses in
the past, it has not done so in the current year. Business grants are
administered by regional partners such as the One London, the London
Development Agency and the East London Small Business Centre. The
Council also facilitates access to grant searcher services via the
Business page on the Council's website. Click on the following link:

3. Greenwich Council works with a wide variety of partners such as South
East Enterprise, Business Link London, The London Development Agency,
Greenwich Enterprise Board, the South East London Chamber of Commerce,
The University of Greenwich to support the needs of businesses in
Greenwich. The overall objectives of business support services are set
out in the Council's Enterprise Framework:-
1. Increase the competitiveness of local businesses
2. Maximise local opportunities for business growth
3. Provide a high quality business environment
4. Encourage business start-ups and entrepreneurship
5. Coordinate and deliver high quality business support
6. Engage and involve local businesses
