United Reformed Church, Lion Walk, Colchester Act 1980 (c. xlii)

Kaihsu Tai made this Freedom of Information request to House of Lords

The request was refused by House of Lords.

From: Kaihsu Tai

17 February 2009

Dear Madam or Sir,

Would you please provide a copy of the local act United Reformed
Church, Lion Walk, Colchester Act 1980 (c. xlii).

(I have found that, unlike other acts, this is not available for
purchase from The Stationery Office. The National Archives mentions
that it does not hold a copy of this local act, as it is less than
thirty years old, and suggested that I contact the Parliamentary
Archives.)

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Dr Kaihsu Tai

Dear Dr.Tai,

Thank you for your e-mail of 17 February 2009 in which you request a
copy of the local act United Reformed Church, Lion Walk, Colchester Act
1980 (c. xlii).

This information is exempt from disclosure under section 21 of the
Freedom of Information Act 2000 as it is reasonably accessible to you by
other means. As guidance from the Information Commissioner's office
explains "the thinking behind the exemption is that if there is another
route by which someone can obtain information, there is no need for the
Act to provide the means of access."

There are a number of ways you can access this information outside the
framework of the Freedom of Information Act.

A copy of this Act can be purchased from The Stationery Office

http://www.tsoshop.co.uk/bookstore.asp?F...
9780105142805&From=SearchResultsCopies

Alternatively, the Act can be accessed in a number of libraries and
record offices across the country.

The website of the Office of Public Sector Information (part of The
National Archives) contains detailed information about local acts which
includes a list of major collections of local legislation in the United
Kingdom.

http://www.opsi.gov.uk/chron-tables/loca...

As you will see local legislation is available in most areas of the
country so you should be able to identify a conveniently located source.
Please note, however, that some of the libraries listed are accessible
only to particular categories of users. Any inquiry concerning the use
of a particular collection should be addressed to the library or record
office concerned. Contact details can be found via the Internet,
telephone directories etc.

If you choose to obtain a copy from the Parliamentary Archives you
should e-mail [email address]. Your request will be treated
outside the framework of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and you
will be advised of any charges that may apply. Details of the services
available can be found at:
http://www.parliament.uk/publications/ar....

You may, if dissatisfied with the treatment of your request for
information, ask the House of Lords to conduct an internal review.
Requests for an internal review should be addressed to
[email address] or to the Freedom of Information Officer, House
of Lords, London SW1A 0PW. Arrangements will be made for someone who has
not been involved in dealing with your request to conduct an internal
review within 20 working days.

If, following this review, you remain dissatisfied with the House's
treatment of your request for information, then you may take your
complaint to the Information Commissioner at Wycliffe House, Water Lane,
Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.

Yours sincerely

Frances Grey

Several months ago, I placed an order with The Stationery Office for a copy of this Act (along with other Acts), but the TSO was unable to fulfil this order (other Acts in the same order were fulfilled).

It appears that the Bodleian Library has a copy of this Act. I shall get it from there, since it is nearby for me.
