Interesting. I had the same problem. They never bothered to ring me. When 3 weeks later I got a letter asking to ring them, they tried to change the start claim date, which they did, I appealed and got the money backdated. Took an extra month for me to get it back dated though.

I printed the online application out and can confirm the number was correct, that the phone line was active, that it wasn't in use during office hours (cheaper calls at night) and that no missed calls or messages were left on answer machine.
