Un-audited access to NIR

Dr. Geraint Bevan made this Freedom of Information request to Identity and Passport Service

The request was successful.

From: Dr. Geraint Bevan

21 November 2008

Dear Sir or Madam,

can you please tell me which agencies, if any, will be able to
access records on the National Identity Register without leaving a
trace that may be discovered by the data subject?

For example, will access by the Security Service, the police or
HMRC be recorded in the audit trail in the course of an
investigation; and if so, would the data subject be able to view
these logs?

Yours faithfully,

Dr. Geraint Bevan
