Dear Sir or Madam,
I would like to request any list of sort codes of all clearing
banks in the United Kingdom held by the Bank of England used in
order to identify the bank branch from a supplied sort code.
This index should include full bank branch address and contact
details of each sort code listed.

Thank you for your email dated 27 March requesting access under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 ('FoI Act') to:
'any list of sort codes of all clearing banks in the United Kingdom held by the Bank of England used in order to identify the bank branch from a supplied sort code. This index should include full bank branch address and contact details of each sort code listed'
As the information you request is in the public domain and available to purchase commercially, the section 21 (information accessible to the applicant by other means) exemption of the FoI Act applies.
May I suggest that you visit a website such as www.sortingcodes.co.uk or purchase a book such as the UK Clearings Directory (see www.reedbusiness.co.uk/rb2_products/rb2_... . You may also wish to contact your local Reference Library who may have this information - or be able to obtain a copy - for your perusal.
