Please ensure that any of your general correspondence,
acknowledgements or holding letters etc are included or
cut-and-pasted into the body of the email messages, using plain
text, rather than as attachments. As this will mean your

Accessibility:
When providing any information disclosures please provide it in the
original unrestricted format such as:
a. MS Word .doc or Rich Text Text .rtf format or equivalent
b. Plain text .txt format
(suitable for the text/body of emails)

will also help ensure that text based information is accessible for
use with a Screen Reader or a Magnifier for none text based
information.

Kent County Council
21 April 2009
Dear J Cassidy
Thank you for your email asking Kent County Council to review the handling
of your request for information which falls under the scope of the Freedom
of Information Act 2000.
Firstly, you state that we have not acknowledged your request. There is no
statutory requirement under the Act to acknowledge requests for
information although it is clearly good practice to do so.
An acknowledgement was sent to you on 23rd March. A copy is attached.
Secondly, the Act allows public authorities like Kent County Council up to
20 working days following date of receipt to either provide you with the
information you have requested or explain why it is exempt from disclosure
or to ask for extra time to consider exemptions to disclosure that are
subject to the public interest test. As we have until close of business
today (21st April) to reply to you and will only be in breach of our
statutory requirement as of tomorrow if we haven't, I believe your request
for review on these grounds is premature.
I trust that this explanation now satisfies your complaint. However, if
you are still unhappy with the decision, you can appeal to the Information
Commissioner, who oversees compliance with the Freedom of Information Act
2000. Details of what you need to do, should you wish to pursue this
course of action, are available from the Information Commissioner's
website [1]http://www.ico.gov.uk/complaints/freedom...

Dear J Cassidy
Thank you for your email
The Freedom of Information Act allows public authorities like Kent County
Council up to 20 working days following date of receipt to either provide
you with the information you have requested or explain why it is exempt
from disclosure or to ask for extra time to consider exemptions to
disclosure that are subject to the public interest test. A reply was sent
to you earlier today providing you with all the information KCC holds
meeting the scope of your request (a copy of this is attached) but in any
event, we would only have been in breach of our statutory requirement as
of tomorrow.
