Dear Mr Watts

Thank you for your enquiry on how much of our funding is spent on wages
each year. Please find the response below:

¾ In 2006-07, total incoming finances to the Design Council were
£7.81million, with £6.035 million of this total being our grant-in-aid
funding from our (then) sponsoring government department, the Department
of Trade & Industry. During this financial year the Design Council had an
average of 76 employees. The total spent on staff costs (including
benefits and contributions, pensions etc) was £3,569 million over the
year.

¾ Our Chairman and Trustees are unremunerated and only claim
reasonable expenses in line with our policy.

¾ The table below will give you more specific information on senior
staff salaries and our annual report which can be accessed and downloaded
at the following link, outlines specific salary information for the
organisations executive directors.
