Dear Mr Watts

Thank you for your enquiry on how much of our funding is spent on wages each year. Please find the response below:

¾ In 2006-07, total incoming finances to the Design Council were £7.81million, with £6.035 million of this total being our grant-in-aid funding from our (then) sponsoring government department, the Department of Trade & Industry. During this financial year the Design Council had an average of 76 employees. The total spent on staff costs (including benefits and contributions, pensions etc) was £3,569 million over the year.

¾ Our Chairman and Trustees are unremunerated and only claim reasonable expenses in line with our policy.
