Total of cost incurred due to late night committee sitting
M Bimmler made this Freedom of Information request to House of Commons
The request was successful.
From: M Bimmler
31 March 2009
Dear Sir or Madam,
I would like to request the amount of costs occurred due to the
extraordinarily long (and unforeseen) sitting of the Public Bill
Committee on the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning
Bill which took place on Thursday March 26th until Friday March
27th.
By "costs incurred", I refer to costs that would not otherwise have
been incurred, ie. would not have incurred had the committee
finished its deliberations at the usual and foreseen time.
Yours faithfully,
Michael Bimmler

Dear Mr Bimmler,
Thank you for your request of 31 March 2009 for the amount of costs occurred due to the extraordinarily long (and unforeseen) sitting of the Public Bill Committee on the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Bill which took place on Thursday 26 March until Friday 27 March 2009. By "costs incurred", you referred to costs that would not otherwise have been incurred, i.e. would not have incurred had the committee finished its deliberations at the usual and foreseen time.
There is in practice no fixed time by which Thursday afternoon sittings of Public Bill Committees must end. The identifiable additional costs of the Public Bill Committee on the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning sitting beyond 6pm on Thursday 26 March are estimated to be £10,741.12.
You may, if dissatisfied with the treatment of your request, ask the House of Commons to conduct an internal review of this decision. Requests for internal review should be addressed to: Freedom of Information Officer, Department of Resources, House of Commons London SW1 OAA or [House of Commons request email]. Please ensure that you specify the nature of your complaint and any arguments or points that you wish to make.
If you remain dissatisfied, you may appeal to the Information Commissioner at Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.
Yours sincerely
