Thank you for your enquiry regarding the number of works in the Tate collection. Here are some recent figures:

The Collection currently consists of 66,062 works of art* by 3,075 artists including:

4,930 paintings
1,690 sculptures
285 reliefs
333 installations
47,653 unique works on paper
13,272 prints on paper
329 blocks for printing
*Several works at Tate are part of the fabric of the buildings and do not appear in the Collection database.

This information is on the Tate website at http://www.tate.org.uk/collections/about.... You should also be aware that works are added to the Collection on a regular basis. The annual Tate Reports list all the acquisitions for the year in question http://www.tate.org.uk/about/tatereport/

The Tate collection is one collection - the works displayed in the separate galleries have different emphases but there is no division within the Collection itself.
