Total number of objects in the British Museum's collection

Frankie Roberto made this Freedom of Information request to The British Museum

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, The British Museum should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

From: Frankie Roberto

4 May 2008

Dear Sir or Madam,

I would like to request the total number of objects that you hold
in your permanent collections.

If an exact figure is not available, please provide instead your
estimated total, along with an explanation as to how this figure
was calculated.

Yours faithfully,

Frankie Roberto

P.S Please note that this same request has been made to all the UK
museums covered under the Freedom of Information Act, and that your
response will be automatically made public at
http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/user/frank.... This request is
partly a test of the WhatDoTheyKnow project. If you have any
questions about the project, you can contact the project team at
