Total DfT spend on 3rd runway and 6th terminal at Heathrow

Alastair Kelly made this Freedom of Information request to Department for Transport

The request was successful.

From: Alastair Kelly

13 October 2009

Dear Sir or Madam,

On 16 December 2003 Transport Secretary Alistair Darling released a
White Paper on the future of air transport in the UK. A key
proposal of the White Paper was that a new 2,000 metre runway would
be built at Heathrow Airport by 2020. This was followed up in June
2005 by BAA submitting draft plans for public consultation to build
a third runway and a sixth terminal at Heathrow Airport.

I have several questions on this subject that I wish to make under
the Freedom of Information Act.

1. To the present day, what is the total amount of public money
that has been spent by the DfT on the subject of a proposed third
runway and sixth terminal at Heathrow Airport, including the costs
associated with creating the original White Paper in 2003.

2. How much money was spent in total on the public consultation
about the proposed third runway and sixth terminal at Heathrow
Airport that began in November 2007?

3. To date what is the total amount of money spent by the DfT on
legal fees associated with any matters arising from the proposal of
the third runway and the sixth terminal at Heathrow Airport?

I look forward to your response.

Yours faithfully,

Alastair Kelly
