3 September 2010
Dear Mr Hassam,
Thank you for your request for information received on 3^rd March 2010
concerning clearing road kill from Gloucester roads.
Your request is being handled under the Freedom of Information Act 2000
(FOIA).
Firstly, let me begin by apologising for the delay in responding to your
FOI request. Please see below for the information you have requested:
1. How much the Council spent during 2009 on clearing road kill from
roads in Gloucestershire?
Clearing road kill from all Gloucestershire streets is not the
responsibility of Gloucester City Council. Instead the city Council is
only responsibly for road kill across the City.
In regards to road kill from the City's streets, Gloucester City Council
operates this service as part of our street care responsibilities and, as
such, the costs of clearing road kill as not separately identified in the
street care service budget.
2. How much the Council allocated in the 2010 budget for clearing road
kill from roads in Gloucestershire?
Again, as clearing road kill is not allocated a separate budget from
overall street care, the specific budget for road kill cannot be provided.
3. Whether any funds allocated to the clearing of road kill during
either 2009 or 2010 were diverted to fund repairs to potholes on the
county's roads and, if so, how much?
As detailed above, the Council is unable to provide information on the
specific costs of clearing road kill from the City's streets and so are
unable to provide information relating to whether any budget was diverted
from other services. Repairs to potholes is not the City's councils
responsibility but instead the responsibility of Gloucestershire County
Council Highways Agency.
