Dear Sir or Madam,
You will appreciate that most of the population pay more to call an
0844 number than an 01603 number (the latter is often free to
landline and mobile callers). Also the 0844 number is not available
to overseas callers (which often include myself when working
abroad).
Under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act, please
supply the geographic number which 0844 980 3333 is translated to
by your service provider.
Yours faithfully,
Tim Wright

Dear Mr Wright,
I apologise for the delay in responding to you request for information.
Norwich City Council introduced an 0844 telephone number which replaced
several 01603 numbers. The change of telephone number means customers
will need just need one telephone number when contacting the council
about any matter and will improve customer services.
The former 01603 numbers have been replaced and are no longer available.
The council will be changing phone number from 3 August 2009 will then
have an 03 telephone number.
Yours sincerely
