From: Julian King

Dear Sir or Madam,
Could you let me know what the breakdown of salaries and
staff numbers has been across the university institutions has been
by year.
I am interested in identifying trends in salary expenditure for
different areas, eg science versus arts, or central administration
versus spend in academic departments.
I appreciate that there may be numbers that you can't give,
such as salaries paid by colleges, but these shouldn't be
significant compared to the overall bills.
If you already have these figures broken down any further then
obviously that is fine, but I don't expect you will.
Yours faithfully,
Julian King
