Mr Sloan,
The number of officers and staff working for Strathclyde Police is
contained in the force's last annual report, this gives the figure as at
31 March 2009:
http://home/viewdocument.asp?document=ht...
009/06/267_Stats_Supplement_0809_.pdf specifically pages A.42 and A.43.
Do you require it for any later date?
So that we understand you correctly can you advise what you mean by
office based? Technically all officers are office based inasmuch as
they operate from their normal place of duty until out on patrol,
engaged on calls or with other operational incidents. The percentage of
an officer's time spent on particular tasks is not routinely calculated.
Your thoughts will help us focus on the correct search parameters or
roles.
Please note the FOI clock will not resume until we have received your
clarification.
Kind regards
Inspector Graeme Cuthbertson

Dear Inspector Cuthbertson,
The purpose of my FOI request is to ultimately to establish how
many officers are employed in support roles i.e. any officer whose
job is primarily a desk job and whose prime function is not to
respond to 999 calls or investigate crime. Examples would include
all Police officers deployed within the Force Disclosure Unit, any
involved in the auditing of figures/compliance with
force/government policies etc.
I hope that assists you.
Yours sincerely,
Alistair P Sloan

Thanks Alistair, we'll progress this through our Human Resources
Department focussing on 'support' roles/functions. If we need any
further clarification based on what they say we'll get in touch.
