Dear Sir or Madam,
At
http://www.standards.dfes.gov.uk/primary...
you publish an computer program called Number Grid, for presenting
a 1-100 number grid on a computer.
I would like the source code (by which I mean the preferred form of
the code that the developers of the program use when creating and
editing it) for this program.
Yours faithfully,
David Jones

Dear Mr Jones,
Thank you for your freedom of information request via email dated 25
September 2008 about the number grid on the Standards website. I believe
that the answer is as follows: Flash was used to create the number grid
ITP. Flash was able to export all of the formats we have published on
the Standards site. I believe this would have been created in Flash
version 8 as it was first surfaced in 2004/5, but will be functional in
all subsequent releases. I have the raw Flash file used to create this
and I will send this to you separately as due to a technical error it
will not attach to this email. Please do not hesitate to contact me if
you need any further information.
Yours sincerely,
Sarah Amer

Dear Sarah Amer,
Thank you for your response. Unfortunately I am not able to make
use of a .fla file, and I suspect that many members of the public
are in a similar situation. What I am after is the plain text of
the source codes.
I have done a little bit of research into flash; perhaps it is
possible to split the single .fla into one or more .as
(actionscript) files? Failing that, the XML format of Flash CS4
(.xfl) _may_ be suitable (I'd have to see it to know).
Would it be possible to try either of those approaches?
Yours sincerely,
David Jones
