Sound of an ID card

Dr. Geraint Bevan made this Freedom of Information request to Identity and Passport Service

The request was successful.

From: Dr. Geraint Bevan

30 July 2009

Dear Sir or Madam,

following the Home Secretary's unveiling of the visual design of an
identity card today, I was disappointed that no audio recordings
were made available of the "distinctive sound when flicked" that we
are supposed to use to verify that the cards are genuine.

Can you please provide me with a copy of, or a link to, a specimen
recording of this distinctive sound, along with any specific
instructions for producing and identifying it accurately?

Yours faithfully,

Dr. Geraint Bevan
