Social worker reported to GSCC for child pornography

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Staffordshire County Council should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Staffordshire County Council,

Dear General Social Care Council,

I refer to a Freedom of Information request submitted by Ms Jane Webb on 04th June 2010 to Rupinder Panesar Via what do they know website

http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/in...

On viewing this FOI I wish, under both the data Protection Act 1998 and Freedom of Information Act 2000, for both GSCC and Staffordshire Council to elaborate further on a social worker that was reported to both GSCC and CIAS on 03/10/08 for child pornography. I understand that names cannot be disclosed
1. How long was this social worker in employment with the LA before these allegations came to light.

2. Who reported the social worker for this offence; for example, LA, other authority or service user?

3. Did the social worker have any previous convictions and did he or she have a CIB check prior to employment and regular CIB checks during employment.

4. The GSCC report shows internal disciplinary action was taken by LA, what was the outcome of this?

5. What action did GSCC take?

6. Does the social worker still have contact with children?

7. Is the social worker currently employed by an LA, if so which one?

8. Has the social worker been removed from the GSCC register?

9. Has the social worker been placed on the sex offenders register?

10. Your report states that no criminal charges were brought against this person, Did this go to court or was it dealt with in house (by LA, GSCC or both). Please explain the investigation process and outcome.

11. Have parents whose children have been in contact with this person been contacted by LA or GSCC

12. Please supply any other information pertaining to this case.

Yours faithfully,

Sheila Hersom

Dear Wiles, Michelle (L&D),

Thank you for your email

My FOI was compiled from the following FOI to GSCC by another service user. Within the attached spread sheet was a employee with disciplinary action from his or her employer, Staffordshire LA, for child porn. The request and link is below:-

"Dear General Social Care Council, please can you tell me how many
social workers are currently under investigation for staffordshire
local authority and also how many have been struck off or faced
misconduct or breech of codes of conduct or been bought to your
attention in the last 5 years and what the allegations were.

Yours faithfully,

Jane Webb"

the link to this FOI http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/in...

Please can you also attach your report for all SCC employees from 2007 with brief details of reason why dismissed

Yours sincerely,

Sheila Hersom

Dear Wiles, Michelle (L&D),

I also note that there is a second person been reported and safeguarding issues have been raised towards children (reported to GSCC 09/04/2010) with a disciplinary hearing. This social worker is not suspended and investigation still ongoing since 2008

Please could you supply the same questions as above for this case

Yours sincerely,

Sheila Hersom

Dear Sheila,
Please note that in the original request the reply from Rupinder Panesar
is "With regard to the region of Staffordshire, we can provide general
details on cases since September 2009 where 'Staffordshire' was picked
as the 'region of referral'; and not in terms of registrants who were
working for Staffs County Council."

The response specifies that it can only identify 'Staffordshire' as a
region and does not refer to 'Staffordshire County Council'.

Regards,

Michelle K Wiles

So does Staffordshire County Council not come under Staffordshire then?

If not, who would one go to regarding the FOI requested?

Dear Wiles, Michelle (L&D),

Just a polite Prompt

Yours sincerely,

Sheila Hersom
