Question 1 - What was the council's sickness bill for 2008, broken
down by quarter (ie January to March, April to June, July to
September, October to December) Please give a comparison with the
quarterly periods of the 2006/07 and 2005/06 financial years.

Question 2 - How many days were lost due to sickness/absence during
2008, broken down by quarter (ie January to March, April to June,
July to September, October to December) Please give a comparison
with the quarterly periods of the 2006/07 and 2005/06 financial
years.

Question 3 - What were the main reasons given for sickness/absence
referred to in question two?

I refer to your request for information in relation to above and provide the information we hold as undernoted:

The estimated cost of sickness absenteeism is provided on an annual basis (financial year basis) in accordance with the Formula for Measuring and Costing Absenteeism previously issued by the Northern Ireland Audit Office.
We therefore do not hold the figures on a quarterly basis.

In relation to the 2008/2009 year this will not be calculated until the end of the financial year therefore I enclose figures for the previous three years.
