Shingle Street in the second world war

John Postle made this Freedom of Information request to Ministry of Defence

Ministry of Defence did not have the information requested.

From: John Postle

21 October 2008

Dear Sir or Madam,
It is recorded that an incident took place off the coast at Shingle
Street in Suffolk between 1939 - 1945 with an eye-witness account
that the 'whole sea appeared to be on fire'
Is there any information available to the public as to what
actually happened ?

Yours faithfully,

John Postle
