Dear Mr Willis

FoI/09/01445 - Hospitality costs 2008-09 and 2009-10

Thank you for your email requesting information under the Freedom of
Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA). I would like to apologise for the
delay in responding.

You have requested information on how much the Scottish Government has
spent each month on alcohol and food to host ministerial hospitality
events, including lunches, dinners and receptions over the past two
years.

The table below shows the breakdown of costs for all events that have
taken place over the past two years, covering all lunches, dinners and
receptions for which we have full records detailing a breakdown of food
and alcohol costs.

+----------------------------------------------------------------+
| |Food |Alcohol |
|--------------------+---------------------+---------------------|
|08-09 |£138,230 |£45,651 |
|--------------------+---------------------+---------------------|
|09-10 |£113,043 |£36,391 |
+----------------------------------------------------------------+

The total food and alcohol figure for 2009/10 is £149,434.  To put this
in context, it compares to an equivalent figure of £157,414 in 2006/07.

If you are unhappy with this response to your request, you may ask us to
carry out an internal review by writing to the Permanent Secretary, Sir
John Elvidge, at St Andrew's House, Regent Road, Edinburgh, EH1 3DG
([1][email address]).  Your request should explain why you
wish a review to be carried out, and should be made within 40 working days
of receipt of this letter, and we will reply to you within 20 working days
of receipt.  If you are not satisfied with the result of the review, you
then have the right to make a formal complaint to the Scottish Information
