Dear Sir or Madam,
1)
Please provide a list of all gifts, hospitality or donations
supplied to the Council as a corporate body, or to any individuals
within the Council, over the past 5 years.
By 'Scientology organisations', I mean organisations which promote,
recruit members for, or raise money for, Church of Scientology
Religious Education College Incorporated (a foreign corporation
which has been denied charitable status in the UK).
To the best of my knowledge a list of such organisations would
include:
Jive Aces / Church of Scientology Inc / Greenfields School /
Greenfields Educational Trust / Hubbard Foundation / ABLE / Applied
Scholastics International / Narconon / Criminon / The Way to
Happiness Foundation International / Church of Scientology
Religious Education College Inc / Office of Special Affairs (OSA) /
Sea Org / Youth for Human Rights International / Citizens
Commission on Human Rights (United Kingdom) Ltd
2)
Please provide details of any Scientology related correspondence in
respect of, and any Scientology related events attended by, Ian
Harrison, Ex-Mayor of Thurrock, and Daphne Hart, Ex-Mayoress.
Yours faithfully,
William Thackeray

Ex-Mayor of Thurrock, and Daphne Hart, Ex-Mayoress.
The information below has been supplied in response to your request for
the above mentioned information. We hope the information supplied
satisfies your original request.
The Mayor receives an invitation every year to the Annual Gala Charity
Concert at Saint Hill Manor, East Grinstead. This, I believe, is the
Hubbard Foundation headquarters. In the past five years the attendance has
been as follows:
26.10.03 - Cllr Gerard Rice and Guest attended concert.
31.10.04 - Cllr Ian Harrison & Guest attended concert.
23.10.05 - Cllr Colin Churchman & Guest accepted the invitation but were
unable to go at the last minute. An employee attended in his place and
went with a guest to the concert.
22.10.06 - Cllr Joy Redsell declined the invitation but subsequently went
on a private visit to Saint Hill Manor on 07.02.07. She received lunch and
a small paperweight as a memento of the visit.
28.10.07 - Cllr Diane Revell & Cllr Mike Revell attended concert.
There are no other records of any gifts, hospitality or donations by
Scientology Organisations.
If you are unhappy with the Council's response you can make a complaint
via the Council's complaints procedures and this will be looked into. If
you are not happy with this decision you may then appeal to the
Information Commissioner.
