The Mayor would like to thank you for your interest in his work and he is
keen to answer your query as fully as possible. As you will appreciate, he
has received a very large amount of correspondence from Londoners since
the election and it is proving quite challenging to respond as quickly as
we would like.
Please note that non Greater London Authority (GLA) related queries will
be referred to the appropriate functional body for them to reply e.g.
transport related queries will be referred to Transport for London (TfL).
However, the Mayor is committed to responding to all appropriate
correspondence and everything is being done to reply to your query as
quickly as possible.
This is an automated message and therefore does not require any response.

Dear Mr Thackeray,
Thank you for your email dated 03/02/2009.
For your information the Greater London Authority (GLA) as a whole does not receive gifts and hospitality. Instead any gifts or hospitality given are received by the Mayor, Assembly Members or Officers of the GLA.
Since 12 September 2007, when the Authority adopted a new Code of Conduct, any Member of the Authority must register with the Monitoring Officer any gift or hospitality worth ?25 or over that he or she receives in connection with their official duties. This register includes gifts to the Mayor and Assembly Members and can be viewed on the Greater London Authority website using the following links:
http://www.london.gov.uk/mayor/gifts/
http://www.london.gov.uk/assembly/member...
We currently do not have any gifts registered from the Official Church of Scientology in the last 5 years.
Kind Regards,
Legal and Procurement Group

Dear Legal Procurement Group,
Thank you for your very quick response.
Yes, I was indeed seeking info on gifts and hospitality received by
the Mayor, Assembly Members or Officers of the GLA, rather than by
the GLA as a corporate body - thanks for that.
To clarify my request, by 'Scientology organisations', I mean
organisations which promote,
recruit members for, or raise money for, Church of Scientology
Religious Education College Inc (a US corporation which has been
denied charitable status in the UK).
To the best of my knowledge a list of such organisations would
include:
Jive Aces / Church of Scientology Inc / Greenfields School /
Greenfields Educational Trust / Hubbard Foundation / ABLE / Applied
Scholastics International / Narconon / Criminon / The Way to
Happiness Foundation International / Church of Scientology
Religious Education College Inc / Office of Special Affairs (OSA) /
Sea Org / Youth for Human Rights International / Citizens
Commission on Human Rights (United Kingdom) Ltd
Yours sincerely,
William Thackeray
