Dear Mr. Jones,

I refer to your Freedom of Information Request dated 17th September 09 in
connection with the Rushmoor Smoking Task Force. I have liaised
with Colin Alborough in our Food, Health and Safety Department and enclose
our response below.

1. How was the target set for the reduction in smoking within Rushmoor?

The target was set in negotiation with the Hampshire NHS PCT based on
statistics available in the Hampshire Joint Strategic Needs Assessment.

2. Why is this an issue for local government and not the NHS?

Rushmoor Borough Council is a partner with Hampshire NHS PCT delivering
our Hampshire Local Area Agreement targets. Rushmoor is jointly committed
to striving for improved public health standards including work on smoking
prevalence.
3. What was the budget/spend for this exercise, including the cost of the
input by Rushmoor Healthy Living?

The whole of the funding for the Rushmoor Healthy Living input into the
Smoke Free Homes project was provided by the Hampshire NHS PCT. The grant
funding from the PCT for the project and other smoking initiatives was
£25,000.

I hope that this answers your question satisfactorily, but if you are
unhappy with the reply you have received, I attach a link to the Council*s
Complaints Procedure, which is the means by which you may request the
