Hi Kevin,
Thank you for your enquiry requesting removals and voluntary departures to
Mauritania. Official statistics on enforced removals are not available
separately.
In 2006, less than three people were removed or departed voluntarily from
the UK to Mauritania. These departures were enforced removals and notified
voluntary departures.
There were no removals or voluntary departures from the UK to Mauritania
in 2007 or 2008.
In 2009, less than three people were removed or departed voluntarily from
the UK to Mauritania. These departures were non-asylum cases initially
refused entry at a port and subsequently removed.
Rounding figures to the nearest five is common practice in the publication
of statistics. This is to ensure the confidentiality of individual case
files as well as to reflect the quality of the data source which we cannot
assume to be 100% accurate. Therefore, for example, when the count is
three, the published figure would be five. However, when the count is one
or two we do not round to zero as this would be misrepresentative, we
simply indicate that it is less than three.
The Home Office publishes statistics on the number of persons removed or
departed voluntarily from the UK on a quarterly and annual basis, which
are available from the Home Office's Research, Development and Statistics
website at:

If you require additional information, please do not hesitate to contact
me.
