A Freedom of Information request to Coleraine Borough Council by Colin Marshall
Currently overdue a response from Coleraine Borough Council. By law, the response had to be prompt but no later than 29 July 2008. They are 164 days late, you can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Sir or Madam,
Can you please tell me if any research has ever been conducted or
commissioned relating to the Council's web site? (For example, what
the public would like to see on it, how usable it is, etc.) This
should not include wide-ranging eternal studies that survey many
council sites at once, if not directly requested by the Council,
but solely research that the Council itself has carried out or
directly authorised. This should include any research carried out
amongst staff or council members, and even informal or ad hoc
research (such as collating comments made) should be included.
If any such research has been performed, I would request electronic
copies of any final reports and/or presentations produced, along
with details of when the report was produced, by whom, and at what
cost.
Yours faithfully,
Colin

Dear Colin
Council has not commissioned any such survey from customers of our
website or its content.

Dear David,
Thank you for this response. However, in light of your extreme
delay in responding, without any explanation or apology, and your
seeming failure to follow most of the basic FOI procedures, I would
like to make a formal complaint about how my enquiry was handled
and request an internal review of the matter.
Yours sincerely,
Colin

Dear Colin
I would advise you that this Council has not received any requests
submitted via the website whatdotheyknow.com until now. We only found
out about this situation today as a result of contact from another
Council who similarly had not received any requests. It would appear
that the emails from the website were being sent to a non-existent email
address and hence not reaching us. This is the fault of the website, as
Council had no contact from them when they were setting themselves up.

Dear David,
Thank you for this information, but I'm unsure what you mean by "a
non-existent email address". I am informed by the WhatDoYouKnow
team that the requests were delivered to
townclerk@colerainebc.gov.uk, which is currently the first email
address listed on your FOI page at
http://www.colerainebc.gov.uk/show.php?i...
Is that address no longer in use? What address should requests be
sent to?
Yours sincerely,
Colin
