Request for full disclosure of reasons for the cancellation of the Big Green Gathering
Rosemary Slay made this Freedom of Information request to Mendip District Council
The request was partially successful.
From: Rosemary Slay
28 July 2009
Dear Sir or Madam,
I have been informed in the last 24 hours of the cancellation of
this year's Big Green Gathering by Mendip District Council,
supported by the Somerset and Avon Police. Having consulted both
press releases from these institutions I have not found sufficient
evidence as to why this event has been made to surrender their
license. I would therefore like to acquire:
a) minutes of any meetings in which decisions purtaining to the
curtailment or cancellation of the big green gathering took place.
b) copies of the communication between the Mendip District Council
and the Somerset and Avon police, and the communication between
Stuart Security and the Somerset and Avon police about the closure
of the Big Green Gathering this year.
c) full disclosure of every reason which Mendip district council
had planned to use had they gone ahad with the injunction
proceedings which were threatened against the organisers of the Big
Green Gathering.
Through your actions you have caused considerable inconvenience to
a large number of people, including huge financial costs, and there
may therefore be a case for these individuals to claim compensation
from you.
Yours Sincerely,
Rosemary Slay
