The request has been made in the context of Statutory Instrument 1515 of 2005 which gives the Office of Public Sector Information a legal identity.

To remove the Office of Public Sector Information requires a change to the Statutory Instrument 1515 of 2005.

The Office of Public Sector Information currently has a regulatory function in the secondary law that transposes the European Directive 2003/98/EC.

A change of the UK Secondary law to remove the Office of Public Sector Information and change it to another name The National Archives has an impact and a public consultation would be expected.
