Your request for a review of the Arts Council's handling of your

Freedom of Information Act 2000

I am writing to confirm that the Arts Council of Northern Ireland has now
completed its search for the information relating to the religion of
artists who are recipients of funding which was received on 29 March 2010.

In response to your request, I would advise the following:

1.) Does the Arts Council of Northern Ireland keep on record the
religion of recipients.

The declared religion of individual artists is collected at the point of
application only, as part of the Section 75 monitoring of all
applicants. This information is then disregarded as irrelevant to the
assessment process.

2.) If so, what percentage of recipients were Roman Catholic.

The percentage of applicants who declared themselves Roman Catholic in the
2008/2009 funding period was 36.6%.

If you have any queries about this response please contact us at 028 9038
5200 in the first instance. You have the right to request a formal review
by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and if you wish to do so, please
write to me at the address below.

If after such an internal review you are still unhappy with the response,
you have the right to appeal to the Information Commissioner at 51
Adelaide Street, Belfast, BT2 8FE, who will undertake an independent
review.
