Suffolk Coastal District Council

1 July 2009

Dear Sir/Madam,

With reference to your freedom of information request copy below for
convenience the amount derived will vary from year to year so I enclose
information for both 2008/09 actual costs and for the 2009/10 estimates.

For 2008/09 the net cost of refuse and recycling was £2.601m compared to
a net cost of services of £14.930m. Based on the charge to a Band C
taxpayer for District services of £125.52 for 2008/09 this would mean
that £21.87 of the Band C charge was attributable to the costs of Refuse
& Recycling, percentage 17.42%.

For 2009/10 the relevant figures are, estimated costs of Refuse &
Recycling £3.100m, net cost of services £15.252m, charge to Band C
taxpayer for District services £129.12, amount attributable to costs of
Refuse & Recycling £26.24, percentage amount 20.32%.

Yours Faithfully
Eric Norman
