Dear Mr Burrows,
Thank you for your request for information received on 6th November
2008. Your request has been passed onto me as I am the Council's
Freedom of Information Officer.

Dear Mr Burrows,
Thank you for your request for information received on 6^th November
2008. I have now received a response from our Client Services section and
I have set out the answers to your request below.
1. Are Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council refuse trucks equipped to empty
wheelie bins? - Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council does not own any
refuse trucks. These are the property of the contractor (SERCO). The
Council do have wheelie bins but these are for garden waste and there
are currently no plans to introduce them for household refuse.
2. Are Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council refuse trucks leased or owned
outright? - As stated above the Council doe not own any refuse trucks
and therefore does not hold any information as to how these vehicles
are procured.
3. If leased when are they likely to be replaced? - See question 2 above.
4. When do you plan to introduce wheelie bins to Welwyn Hatfield Borough?
- See question 1 above.

Dear Mr Burrows,
The contractor has trucks that are capable of emptying wheelie bins as
they collect garden waste from wheelie bins on behalf of the Council.
Whether all of the contractor's vehicles are equipped to empty wheelie
bins is something I do not know the answer to and you would need to ask
the contractor this question.
