Dear Sir or Madam,
In a recent publication on your website called 'Ombudsmen highlight
significant cases in latest Digest' you conclude by stating
'Complainants obtained redress in just over 27 per cent of cases
investigated'.
Can you provide information on how you reached this conclusion?
I am particularly interested in knowing if the percentage includes
cases in which the Ombudsmen recommended a redress but the
authority never provided it, or provided a lesser level of redress.
If the stated percentage does not include those cases in which the
council did not provide redress, or provided a lesser redress than
recommended by the Ombudsman please supply information as to how
you know. Does the Ombudsman for example, follow up every complaint
after a period of time to ensure the redress is in fact delivered
by the authority? Or do you have another method?
Yours faithfully,
A Johnson
